TL;DR:

Sheffield is a large city in the north of England that somehow feels like a small town.

Its proximity to the Peak District National Park attracts outdoor enthusiasts who are into hiking, climbing & cycling.

The city centre is being rejuvenated and some other neighbourhoods have their own high street with independent shops, craft beer pubs and small cafes.

Sheffield is full of parks and has the highest number of trees per inhabitant out of all major cities in Europe!

❝

🚌 Getting around

City is best explored on foot, Sheffield also has an extensive bus and tram network connecting the city centre with neighbourhoods further out. The free Sheffield Connect bus is handy for getting around the centre, while buses and trams can take you towards many of the city’s parks and green spaces. Cycling is another option, although be prepared for Sheffield’s famous hills! Taxis and ride-hailing apps like Uber are also widely available.
