Before we begin this week, Bali has been on our minds. After facing heavy flooding for the third time this year, our hearts are with the communities navigating yet another recovery.

The Gibbon Experience
📍Bokeo, Laos
Website | Instagram | Google Maps
Deep in the heart of the Nam Kan National Park in northern Laos, The Gibbon Experience invites you to see the jungle from a perspective few travellers ever do.
Set high in the forest canopy, the experience is built around elevated treehouses and a network of ziplines, allowing you to move through the jungle in a way that minimises impact while keeping wildlife at the centre.
You spend 2-3 days trekking through the jungle, ziplining between forest canopies and staying overnight in some of the world’s highest treehouses, with mornings often beginning at sunrise to the unmistakable calls of gibbons echoing through the forest.
Often fully booked months in advance, The Gibbon Experience uses tourism proceeds to support reforestation efforts, wildlife protection and ranger patrols within the national park.
What you take away is not just the thrill of moving through the canopy but a rare opportunity to be fully immersed in a living forest.
P.S. The experience is reachable via Chiang Rai in northern Thailand, followed by a border crossing into Laos. More information here.
This week’s gem was recommended by none other than our What’s Hot & What’s Not real traveller of the week, Jamie 👇🏻

In this week’s What’s Hot & What’s Not, meet Jamie, a responsible tourism marketing consultant.
As the co-founder of Latitude and Better Routes Collective. Jamie has worked with over 70 travel brands since 2023, helping them build strategies that strike the right balance between sustainability and success.

🔥 What’s Hot
Authenticity is a bit of a buzzword right now, but many of my favourite travel stories have come through connecting with locals and having a laugh despite the language and culture barriers. In the Bahamas, the People-to-People Programme is a community initiative designed to allow visitors to experience the islands like a Bahamian. You'll share dinners with families, get the inside scoop on locals' recommendations. Heck, you may even spend Sunday morning at church with your hosts. Those serendipitous moments are what I'm chasing when I travel.
❄️ What’s Not
Bucket lists. The same places in the same publications year after year... and don't get me started on inclusions of some of the world's most fragile ecosystems, like Antarctica. Unless you're a fan of crowds, slow walking, and the 67 strangers in the frame blocking the photo you're trying to take, it's best to avoid the hotspots, particularly during peak season.
