Metro, buses and trams cover most parts of the city, you’ll need to buy a ticket in advance at metro stations, tabacchi shops, newsstands, or ticket machines. You can also buy a Roma 24/48/72 Hour Pass. Taxis are easy to find, and ride-hailing apps like FreeNow work well. Uber exists, but only offers premium options.

Roam around the typical alleys of Trastevere, for instance, Via della Lungaretta (classic Trastevere street), Vicolo del Cinque (vine-covered walls, cosy bars), Via del Moro (charming alley with small boutiques and bars) and Via della Pelliccia (“Roman” after dark), all classic streets where you’ll catch the neighbourhood’s real charm.

As we Romans say “If you want to eat properly, go to Testaccio”. It’s the birthplace of Roman cuisine. Local tip: visit at night.
Stroll along Rome’s main shopping street, running straight through the historic centre. It’s where Romans actually go, teenagers hanging out after school, families on their evening strolls and locals doing their weekend shopping.
