This week is THE week 🌍
TRAppe has officially gone global!
We’ve taken TRAppe beyond Bali and turned it into a curated platform for travel options around the world. Think thoughtful stays, community-led experiences and businesses that are kind to the planet and good to its people ✌🏻

We’re building this slowly and thoughtfully, adding new businesses as we go, so check back in before your next adventure ❤️
xoxo,
Gabby & The TRAppe. Team

Unwind like a Tokyo local with Aoyama Grand Hotel’s in-room playlist, where design, sound and city life move in quiet sync.
🎧 Share your go-to travel playlist or podcast with us. Whether it's road trip anthems or deep-dive travel stories, we want to hear and feature what fuels your adventures.

🌱 Nature first: Sikkim, India became the world’s first fully organic state, proving what’s possible when communities choose to work with nature, not against it.
🥾 Better hikes: New rules are coming in to protect Madeira Island’s trails and reduce overcrowding. Check out our Madeira Mini Guide for some of the best hikes on the island.
💸 The money trail: Ever wondered where your travel money really goes? Here’s a reality the travel industry doesn’t really talk about.
💼 For job seekers: ProVeg International is looking for a 100% remote Head of Global Grantmaking to lead the redesign of the next phase of its grant-giving ecosystem.

Secret Paradise Maldives
📍Malé, Maldives
Website | Instagram | Google Maps
Think the Maldives is only about luxury resorts and honeymoons? Secret Paradise Maldives exists to challenge that idea and offers a way to experience the Maldives beyond the postcard.
Think local food tours, shared meals with Maldivian families, marine experiences rooted in learning and plenty of time to slow down and explore islands most travellers never see when staying on resort islands.
All experiences are led by Maldivians who know these islands like the back of their hands and care deeply about protecting them. Groups are kept small, which means richer stories, better access to local life and a lighter footprint on a fragile ecosystem that needs it.
From short walking tours to multi day journeys and tailor made itineraries, each experience is designed to support local businesses and safeguard marine life.
In a destination often reduced to overwater villas, Secret Paradise Maldives is a reminder that the real beauty of the Maldives lives in its people.

In this week’s What’s Hot & What’s Not, meet Emily, a travelling filmmaker and a storytelling social impact (ghost)writer.
Emily is a US (Midwest)-born, California-raised, current Berliner (of German heritage). Her location-specific films and stories are inspired by unique local characters, deep travel and the exploration of subcultures. You can catch her latest film, BERLIN LOOP and watch more of her films + subscribe to her travel and filmmaking newsletter here.

🔥 What’s Hot
always in: hiking/trekking up every hill, asking inquisitive/sensitive/curious/open questions about local politics, recommendations from strangers/locals in the street, traveling with friends, spiritual pilgrimmages. best trending terms: "urban drifting" a la ditching the maps and apps, "local travel" a la visiting hotel lobbies in your hometown, "slow travel" a la traveling by train (and checking out new sleeper train routes), "deep travel" a la hosting travellers/staying with locals (a la the OG homestay experience), "intentional travel" a la booking direct with locally-owned businesses, bringing a reusable cup & spoon. exciting in my corner of the universe (Berlin): experiencing THE OPERA!
❄️ What’s Not
"sustainable travel" booked thru massive aggregator sites, doing it for the 'gram, luxury = expensive = homogenous, quick (weekend) trips to faraway places, bucket list travel, not meeting locals, high-pressure sales tactics, single-use plastic.
